Buckle your seatbelt & get ready for a ride. Cause I've got a little funny story for ya.
Q: Write about something you saw but wish you hadn’t.
The booger wall. Yup. You read that right. Let me set the scene…
I’m in fifth grade, at a classmate’s house to watch Little House on the Prairie (I know, I was a lame). After we finished watching the show, she begged me to spend the night. ‘Why not?’ I thought. So I said yes.
After we did...whatever fifth grade girls do, we were about to get tucked into bed. “What side of the bed do you want to sleep on?” She asked. “The wall,” I responded quickly. Since I was a kid, I’ve always felt most comfortable sleeping next to the wall. (I think I feel more safe with my face toward the wall instead of exposed. I don’t know. Animal instinct I guess.)
Still laughing and talking about the drama from the show, we squeezed into her small twin bed. Before she turned off the lights, I looked at the wall beside me. There were dark smudges, smears and lumps of gunk scattered in a circular formation. “What’s on your wall?” I asked. “Oh, that’s my booger wall!” she replied enthusiastically.
[...MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR MY SOUL THAT DIED AND LEFT MY BODY AT THAT MOMENT...
BACK TO THE STORY...]
“Eww!” I said as I jumped back. She laughed, continued to turn off the lights and got into bed. Pulling the covers over my head, I inwardly sobbed as I had to spend the night next to the booger wall I wish I never saw.
